JOHANNES SIVERTSEN: SUNRISE ODENSE
The painting Sunrise Odense by Johannes Sivertsen,
shows a sunrise and in the distance you see the blue silhouette
of the blocks of flats in Vollsmose in Odense. Is the dawn a symbol
of the future, of hope rising in the horizon, as in an old socialist
song? The birds might even symbolize freedom. The painting seems
quiet and ambiguous, though. Another painting shows a model of the
appartment block, Cité Radieuse by Le Corbusiers, build in
Marseille at a time when there was still confidence in a beautiful,
functionalist future with free and equal residents.

RASMUS NELLEMANN: CRANE AND SCAFFOLDING
Etching, 45,5 x 50,5 cm, 1975
The industrial landscape was the focal point of the graphic artist
Rasmus Nelleman (1923-2004). He captured the dirty industrial production
of the past in beautiful, abstracted compositions of lines and surfaces.
His etchings of industrial buildings from the '50s and' 60s might
even evoke a certain nostalgia today, where the foundry at Teglholmen
and the coal silos at Islands Brygge have been replaced by clean,
architectural cityscapes of exclusive apartments.

BODIL NIELSEN: UNTITLED (middle)
Acrylic on canvas, 240 x 170 cm, 2015
Bodil Nielsen's paintings has no connection to Landscape
at the first glance, but maybe you face her large paintings, in
a similar way as you face a landscape. She exhibits a painting in
large format, which does not represent a landscape in another place
- but the painting itself has a strong presence in the exhibition
space. A dense texture emerges when one experiences the painting
at a close range and the transparent and saturated fields of color
give a visual depth. In relation to the surrounding space the painting
articulates the viewer's experience of being, and of movement through
the space.

ELSEBETH NORRIE:
DECEMBER SUNSET, SEPTEMBER SALT MARSH, YELLOW DECEMBER, FROZEN
DUNE LANDSCAPE, GROWTHS IN THE TWILIGHT, AUTUMN REDEPLOYMENTS AND
TURBULENT SEA
6 watercolors, 30 x 40 cm each.
Elsebeth Norrie's landscape watercolors are so detailed
and precise that they seem unreal or over-real. Each sprig and straw
is painted one by one, making realism merging into an ornament of
plants. Elsebeth's exceptional watercolors show outer landscapes
that become mental images. They show the beauty and impermanence
in and around us.
