How does an Italian artist represent Denmark and how does a Danish
artist represent Italy?
For this exhibition of exchange, the Italian artist Paolo Cavinato
took inspiration from different places in Copenhagen, both from
the centre and the peripheral areas of the city.
Likewise the Danish artist Anne Skole Overgaard, living in Copenhagen,
was inspired by the countryside near Mantova, the hometown of Paolo
Cavinato.
The exhibition consists of a series of works created during the
residency in the other artist's hometown. The artists' experiences
of being Elsewhere have been developed into sculpture and installation,
graphic prints and painting.
Anne Skole Overgaard fixes the flat agricultural landscape of the
Po Valley in drypoint engravings, focusing on each detail, each
single brick or straw, recalling the sketchbooks of the Danish Golden
Age painters, travelling through Italy in the 19th century.
